leppy

leppy
(lepe [lépe] < lépero [lépero], of uncertain origin; probably derived by process of epenthesis from lepra 'leprosy' or from English leper)
Carlisle: 1923. According to Hendrickson, a motherless calf, or by extension, an orphaned lamb or colt. Santamaría indicates lepe is used in northwestern Mexico and glosses it as an orphaned calf that suckles from another mother. Alternate terms: bum, bum calf, bummer, bum-mie, dogie.
